Laurel MacDowell is an environmental historian by profession. She is the owner and creator of Fibres, a community based shop in the Haliburton Highlands. In its four years, the shop sold local products made of wood, paper and fabrics by local artisans – hence the name Fibres. The shop also sold art and pottery by Haliburton artists, repurposed goods, vintage goods, antiques and refinished furniture. The shop continues to promote high quality products made locally by Canadian artists and artisans to create beautiful products, that are good for the environment.
Fibres now serves customers in Canada and the United States through our on-line shop, which is available to everyone all year round.
